Two Businesses Burgled After Suspect Throws Object At Door: Maplewood PD

Maplewood police are investigating two morning burglaries this past weekend that involved a suspect throwing an object through the door, authorities said.

On Saturday, Nov. 11 at 6:55 a.m., police responded to Newark Way and found a business with its front glass door shattered, officers said. The suspect removed the cash registers from the business and exited through the damaged door, police said. The damaged cash registers with the cash removed were recovered from a nearby business on the same street, police said. The suspect was wearing a heavy coat, white hooded sweatshirt covering his head, a backpack, a dark mask covering his face and light-colored pants, police said.

On Sunday, Nov. 12 at 8:07 a.m., police responded to Valley Street and found a business with its front glass door shattered, officers said. The suspect removed the cash register and exited through the damaged door, police said. The suspect was last seen in a dark colored SUV traveling north on Valley Street into South Orange.
